Welcome to the web site of
St. George's Church Pontesbury, Shropshire, England
The origins of St George's church can be traced to about 1250, but the church was largely restored in the 19th century. For a small village, population c3,500, it is large, and has a very active and lively congregation. Pontesbury is a rural community and extends a warm welcome to all visitors. St. George's is open to all during daylight hours, but is closed at night.
Thank You
All at St. George’s Church would like to say a really big Thank You to everyone who contributed in any way to the Christmas Tree and Crib Festival. We are always surprised by the wonderful displays that people produce. The numbers attending do not drop, new people enter into this Festival and a good time is had by all. Many people came from places well out of county and some people came over from Europe and enjoyed it.
We hope to have raised just over £2,800 from which a donation will be sent to Hope House. We would like to say a big thank you also to Mr Fred Hollands who gave us one of his lovely water-colour paintings to raffle. This raised a total of £481 for the R. A. P. appeal. Thank you Fred and Jill.
Everyone at St. George’s Church wishes the Parish a very Happy and Peaceful New Year and thanks you all for your continued support.
