Christian LinksThe links on this page enable Christians all over the world to share common ideals and worship. At any time, anywhere in the world, this, and many other web sites will link you to the work and faith of the Anglican Communion. Wherever you are on St George's Web Site, the Church of England Logo in the top left will link you directly to The Church of England web site, and similarly, the small St George's graphic at the top right will always take you to our Home Page. St George's church is in communion with The Episcopal Church of the USA, and The Anglican Church of Canada. Morning PrayerThe link to Morning Prayer will take you directly to the set Morning Service for the day on the Church of England web site. The service includes the set readings, a psalm, the Collect for the day and prayers. Evening PrayerThe link to Evening Prayer will take you directly to the set Evening Service for the day on the Church of England web site. The service includes the set readings, a psalm The Magnificat, Nunc Dimitus, the Apostles Creed and prayers for the day. The Church of EnglandThe Church of England is the supreme governing body of our church, and it's web site provides a huge resource for christian worship and prayer. It provides a direct link to The Archbishops of Canterbury and York, and much else. Our DioceseThe Church of England is part of the world wide Anglican Communion, historically centred on, but not controlled by, Canterbury. There are two provinces, Canterbury and York, each with its own Archbishop, Rowan Williams and John Sentamu respectively. There are forty four dioceses including Sodor and Man, the smallest, and The Diocese of Europe. Each diocese has its own diocesan Bishop, in Hereford it is Rt. Rev. Anthony Priddis, and Suffragan bishops who assist the Diocesan. In Hereford this is Rt. Rev. Michael Hooper, Bishop of Ludlow. Each diocese has a ‘mother church’ , the cathedral which is served by the Dean and a Chapter of Residentiary canons. The Very Rev. Michael Tavernor is the Dean of Hereford. Dioceses are divided into Deaneries each with a Rural Dean who coordinates deanery activities. We are in the deanery of Pontesbury, and Preb, Philip Harrett, vicar of Chirbury , is the Rural Dean. Pontesbury is the most northerly of the Deaneries in the Diocese.
