From The Dragons’ Den!

Today we held the Little Dragons’ Service at St. George’s.  14 Little Dragons, along with Mums, Dads, older brothers and sisters, Grannies, Granddads, and the like, joined the usual congregation.  The Celebration on this day was Pentecost which is a difficult subject for such an age group, but, combined with the Parable of the Lost Sheep –aimed at pre-school age group, resulting in an enjoyable service at many different levels both spiritually and intellectually.

Shepherd and sheepThe sleight of hand involved in assisting one sheep to disappear unnoticed was obviously not sleight enough to fool those LD’s who are about to start school in September. However, they played along with the ‘loss’ and were as amazed as the younger children when the sheep was discovered in a small bush which just happened to be growing along by the choir stalls. The singing session which followed our story was especially spirited today (no pun intended) as we all joined in the boogie-woogie chorus. It was noted that adults present who were entrusted with musical instruments, such as jingle bells or triangles, initially played in strict time and tempo before joining in with the LD’s in making as much noise as possible

On a recent holiday in USA the husbands of 2 SD’s achieved a lifetime ambition when they visited the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Tennessee.  A dream come true!  No free spirit samples but some good deals on offer.  As we toured the distillery we came across this notice:-

JD Notice

I don’t drink spirits and certainly don’t make them but I decided there and then to make this my watchword.  Who knows how many days we have on earth and thus, don’t know how many days we will make it through – so – why not make each day the best we can? Makes sense to me!
