April 2007
Following our successful fund-raising coffee morning, at which we raised the grand sum of £168, SDs spent a most enjoyable Saturday morning investigating ‘dressing-up’ clothes. It’s always enjoyable to have a good spend, especially when it is someone else’s money.
The resulting child-height hanging rail was resplendent with fairy frocks, skirts and wings, nurse and doctor outfits, a couple of cowboy and pirate outfits complete with hats, and a couple of firemen and policemen outfits. The accompanying helmets to these last make a really exciting siren noise when the wind is in the right direction we promise we will not keep them too central to church activities otherwise Jack (organist) may take the blame for the ensuing noise.
At our last session of the term a new ‘commando’ tunnel and a game of hopscotch provided great entertainment for the more adventurous. LDs also enjoyed making chocolate crispy nests complete with chocolate eggs and fluffy chicken alongside their Easter Bunny cards. After listening to a story about 4 white rabbits who received a special treat, a good sing-song ensued when all members gave a rousing rendition of, ‘Row, Row, Row Your Boat!’ and ‘If You’re Happy and You Know it!’ before holding hands in a circle wow, 3 seconds silence was ‘heard’ and thanks were given for a happy time together. It is hoped that on 22nd April, the nearest Sunday to St. George’s Day, some Little Dragons will attend the 10:30 a.m. Family Service. It is intended that ‘Circle Time’ will take place as a part of the Service just as on a normal Little Dragons day, so, hopefully, members of the congregation will have voices at the ready in order to join in the singing. (Brush up those nursery rhymes!). Val Butterworth |
