As the Christian world has recently been celebrating the birth of a very special baby, we at Little Dragons have also celebrated the recent births of 5 babies, all boys. The carer of a perspective new member of LDs asked, “How young is the youngest child attending?” “One week old,” was the reply. All our new babies are brothers of existing Little Dragons and have been brought along at the earliest possible moment to join in the fun.

All of the new, tiny members have been exceptionally good, although not yet joining in the stories or singing. However, they do join in the group circle and are content to sleep their way through the excitement, totally ignored by their ‘doting’ sisters and brothers.
Senior Dragons are keeping their hands in by stepping forward when necessary to relieve our recently-delivered Mums of their smallest charges for a little while purely in order that they are able to indulge themselves in the enjoyment of a quiet cup of coffee or a few moments of quality time with their older child(ren). SDs are content to ‘take up the position’ which, purely instinctively, involves standing in one place and engaging in slight swaying from side to side. It is interesting that, even though it may be many years since previously taking part in this activity, one doesn’t forget the steps. (A bit like riding a bike, I suppose!) Excitingly, on occasion the newborn wakens and the slight swaying alters, without any loss of timing, into a much more complicated step involving swaying with the addition of a gentle jiggle and odd sounds issuing forth in an unintelligible dialect. I wonder what Sir David Attenborough would make of this. He could, no doubt, make an association with one, or several of the lesser primates.

Enough of this nonsense! Some of us have to upgrade our activities in order to attend a ‘pamper party’ for a seven-year-old grand-daughter and several of her friends. There are no known rules for this activity as it is New Age development or so I am informed.
