Watching little fingers exploring, creating, investigating is for me an unfailing source of inspiration. Working with Little Dragons affords the opportunity to view, as in a 3D frieze, the beauty of creation in its human form, the wonder of that form as it develops in size, capability and co-ordination.

We can observe pictures which, when made by the very young child, resemble simply a mish-mash of colour or form, then develop as the child’s interest and ability grow into more obvious shape and meaning. Little Dragons love sticking things together and it is fascinating to see the development – simply sticking card and paper together randomly before, eventually, sticking the right bits in the right order to form the intended result. All this, of course, much enhanced by any possible opportunity to add a bit of glitz and glamour with glitter or sparkly bits as these little people learn to discern that what is less may be more and that some things may be too much. (Now, make sense of that if you will.)

In very recent days, my family have experienced first-hand the wonder of the human form and the effect on that form of people who, possibly through their experience in early days of exploring, creating and investigating, have made it their life’s work to enhance the human form to be the best it can be; maybe by repair, maybe through technology, but basically, by sticking the right bits in the right order to form the intended result – all of course with a bit of luck thrown in.
During the recent days of which I speak we have been amazed at the vocation, the skill and the dedication of those mentioned above.

Even more so, we have been strengthened and supported by the care and love of others who have given much thought to our needs. Through many means – telephone messages, letters, cards, emails, pies left on doorsteps, hugs, kind words and above all, prayers, we have been sustained.

So, watching little fingers exploring, creating, investigating will continue to be an unfailing source of inspiration to me. Somewhere, amongst those little minds and bodies there may be a budding person who is, with our help, beginning to learn the skills which will continue to serve the beauty and wonder of creation in its human form.
