July 2007
The Big Band Sound was heard again this week. If you have a good imagination (and a love of scary events) you can perhaps envisage the sound of 28 Little Dragons, their Carers and 7 Senior Dragons all involved in music making all at the same time.

I have been anticipating a phone call since then from the organisers of Live Aid, the Proms or, at least, Ludlow Festival!!! However, the fact that they have not come up trumps is their loss.
From previous Big Band experience older LDs recognise when they are to rest their instruments when the rabbit pops into view (r for rest); also recognising the significance of the frog (fortissimo) and the pig (pianissimo), although with so many orchestral members it was by far the easier option on this occasion to sustain f f f with a few rs thrown in here and there while the conductor and other supporters recovered their senses. The aspect of Little Dragons in particular that stands out in my mind is the enjoyment we all share in our music - singing and orchestral!!
All good fun!

Holidays are almost upon us. We have now been organising Little Dragons for a whole academic year. It has been a great experience for all of us as Leaders, as Carers and (certainly not least) as Little Dragons. The year has flown by and, as one parent who has been involved from the first week remarked, ‘We have had such fun! The children (and all of us) have learned to work and play alongside each other, are learning to share and enjoy taking part together.’
Next week all equipment will be cleaned and tidied away for a 6 week rest. There is always, however, the chance of one piece of equipment or another ‘going off’ in the middle of a Sunday Service. Apologies in advance who knows what these toys get up to when they are left to their own devices. Rather like human beings I guess!
