St. George's Parish Visitors

In the Spring of 2006 after a period of training we set up a group of interested volunteers, both and male and female, who will visit people out in the community as required.

This pastoral scheme has recently been refreshed and revived, resulting in a team of folk – both male and female - offering their services in a variety of ways. Some have been involved in the pre-existing St. George’s Pastoral Visiting team and others have joined us to form the new group – all with considerable relevant experience. Satisfying the needs of those who require help may include visiting the sick; the elderly and housebound; those living in group dwellings or nursing homes; the bereaved; young mothers who can feel isolated; or simple tasks such as occasional shopping, ferrying to doctors’ appointments, letting the cat out or walking the dog in emergencies …

Each of our volunteers is accredited via mandatory national security checks.

If you do not wish to have a visit but would like to talk a problem over on the phone, that is fine. If you are concerned for someone else, that is fine too. Everyone and everything is treated in complete confidence.

In the first instance, please contact Reverend Shirley Small.
